MSc Big Data Analytics

Course Overview

The MSc Big Data Analytics at Sheffield Hallam University is designed to enable students gain key skills and knowledge in data collection, storage, processing, analysis and visualisation. Through lectures and practical tutorials, they will learn how to apply big data tools and systems to different data tasks and problems, as well as how to analyse and communicate data effectively.

Entry Requirements for Nigerian Students

Those who want to join the course should provide a personal statement explaining why they wish to study it, along with other details about their past schooling. Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants are expected to have a good honours degree in computing, computer science, maths, statistics or other relevant areas or equivalent.
  • The university will also consider applications from candidates without a relevant degree if they have at least one year of work experience in computing or a relevant area. They may also be able to claim credit points, which can reduce the amount of time it takes to complete their qualification at Sheffield Hallam.

English Proficiency:

  • Students from countries where English is not their first language need an IELTS score of 6.0 overall. They also need at least 5.5 in each part of the test. 
  • Other similar test results, such as PTE and TOEFL, are also accepted by the university.
