BSc Honours Radiotherapy and Oncology

Course Overview

This three-year full-time programme is designed to prepare students for a career as a therapeutic radiographer. The course teaches the delivery of professional radiotherapy using cutting-edge equipment, along with providing specialist care and support to cancer patients. Upon successful completion, the course qualifies graduates for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Learning in the programme is delivered through a blend of keynote lectures, seminars, practical sessions, and placements. Assessment is carried out through coursework, exams, and practical assessments. The curriculum includes significant practice-based learning, with students participating in simulated practice workshops and work placements in radiotherapy departments and oncology settings to apply their knowledge.

Entry Requirements for Nigerian Students

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students will be shortlisted for an online interview after their application has been reviewed.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants require 120 UCAS points from qualifications such as A Levels or BTEC National qualifications.
  • This must include at least 32 points from either a natural science subject (such as Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) or a social science subject (Psychology or Sociology).

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need an IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills, or submit an equivalent test score.

Cost of Study

The International students' tuition fee for the BSc (Honours) Radiotherapy and Oncology programme is £19,155 per year.
