Irish BA

Queen's University BelfastBelfast, United Kingdom

Course overview

The Irish language is fast growing in Belfast and further afield. This programme equips students to develop a sophisticated grasp of modern Irish language language and culture. A range of modules will provide you with a broad understanding of Irish culture and society and include Irish-language film studies, human rights in contemporary literature, and opportunities for tailored work placements within the vibrant Irish-language sector.

The growth of Gaelic identity is also explored and insight into the country’s wider heritage is developed through the study of Celtic mythology and Scottish Gaelic. Tá borradh faoin Ghaeilge i mBéal Feirste agus níos faide i gcéin. Cuireann an clár seo ar chumas na mac léinn tuiscint shofaisticiúil a fhorbairt ar theanga agus ar chultúr na Gaeilge.

Cuirfear réimse modúl ar fáil a thabharfaidh tuiscint leathan ar chultúr agus sochaí na hÉireann ; ina measc modúil ar an scannánaíocht, cearta an duine sa litríocht chomhaimseartha, agus deiseanna am a chaitheamh ar thaithí oibre in earnáil bhríomhar na Gaeilge. Pléitear fás na féiniúlachta Gaelaí chomh maith agus tugtar léargas ar oidhreacht leathan na tíre trí staidéar a dhéanamh ar an mhiotaseolaíocht agus ar Ghaeilge na hAlban.
