BSc Computer Science - Games Technology with foundation year
Course overview
The BSc Computer Science-Games Technology (with foundation year) at Nottingham Trent University is a four-year degree. The first year is a foundation year where students build key skills in maths, programming, and computing. After that, the main programme focuses on game technology, including game engines, 3D assets, virtual reality, programming in C++/C#, and development of games and immersive systems. Students learn how to create interactive experiences, build game logic, and apply computing systems in game settings.
This course is delivered at the School of Science and Technology on the Clifton Campus of Nottingham Trent University. The foundation year gives entry to students who may not meet full honours degree requirements. In years two to four, students move into honours-level study in game technology. They cover modules such as game development, 3D graphics, VR/AR, engines like Unity or Unreal, simulation, mobile games, and project work. The final year includes a major games project where students build a portfolio piece or prototype. Teaching is by lectures, labs, workshops, tutorials and team-based projects. Students will code games, build interactive systems, test functionality, and work with graphics and simulation tools. Assessment includes written exams, coursework, programming assignments, and group projects.
