MSc Palliative and End of Life Care
Course overview
This MSc teaches students how to care for patients and their families affected by life-limiting illnesses, considering their physical, psychological, ethical, and spiritual needs. Students are taught through an approach combining online media with face-to-face sessions, guided by a multi-professional teaching team from health and social care disciplines.
The full-time MSc takes two years, while the part-time takes up to five, with modules in pain management, psychosocial and ethical care, and dementia. The later years of this course cover leadership, research, and service innovation, ending in a dissertation or major project.
Entry requirements
Candidates for the MSc Palliative and End of Life Care at the London South Bank University are required to submit a personal statement discussing their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic or employer reference is also required, and students have the option to upload their CVs along with their applications to show their work experience.
Grade Requirements:
- Applicants must hold a degree in nursing, medicine, dentistry, or life/social sciences at 2:2 or above from a UK or recognised overseas university.
- Applicants with substantial senior-level clinical experience and at least 80 undergraduate-level credits, with 15 credits completed in the past two years, may also be considered.
English Proficiency:
- Candidates without an English-speaking background need an IELTS score of 6.5 and a minimum of 5.5 in each section.
- Applicants with equivalent test results are accepted or a degree taught in English from a recognised institution.
