Course Overview

The London South Bank University Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Top-up) programme is designed for students who have completed an HND, Foundation Degree, or a similar Level 5 qualification (worth 240 credits) in a related field.

This one-year full-time course allows students to gain further advanced learning outcomes, helping them meet the educational requirements for Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status. The curriculum combines expertise from electrical and electronic engineering with computer science and communication engineering, equipping graduates to tackle complex engineering projects.

The programme covers a range of specialised topics, including Analogue Electronics, Renewable Energy Engineering, Biomedical Electronics, Communication Systems and Wireless Technologies, and Embedded Systems and the Internet of Things.

Students learn through lectures, tutorials, and laboratory practical exercises, focusing on both analysis and design. Assessments combine coursework and examinations, designed to develop practical engineering skills and knowledge suitable for careers in various electrical and electronic engineering sectors, such as embedded control systems and integrated circuit development.

Entry Requirements for Nigerian Students

To be enrolled, you are required to submit a personal statement in which you discuss your reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding your studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to include their CV along with their applications to highlight their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Completed HND, Foundation Degree, or an equivalent Level 5 qualification with 240 credits in a related subject area, such as Computing or Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
  • Overseas qualifications must be assessed by UK ENIC as equivalent to a BTEC HND in a closely related field.

English Proficiency:

  • IELTS Academic score of 6.5 overall, with no individual part scoring lower than 5.5.
  • Other equivalent test scores, such as TOEFL, are also accepted.

Cost of Study

For international students, the full-time tuition fee for the BSc Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Top-up) at London South Bank University is £15,500 per year.

Scholarships

London South Bank University offers various scholarships for international undergraduate students. All full-time, overseas fee-paying students are automatically considered for an International Scholarship, which can provide a fee reduction of £1,500 for the first year of an undergraduate degree. This scholarship may also be available for each subsequent full year of the programme. Additionally, students who pay their tuition fees in full by a specified deadline may qualify for an early payment discount.
