Course Overview

With the MEng Civil and Environmental Engineering at Liverpool John Moores University, students gain the knowledge, skills, and exposure required to succeed in civil and environmental engineering careers.

In this course, students will study aspects such as the design, planning, and management of projects from concept to realisation, alongside environmental and economic considerations. They will also work on employer-supported case studies and project work, and may complete an optional one-year paid placement to gain industry experience.

Teaching and learning for this full-time programme combine lectures, tutorials, workshops, laboratories, and practical sessions, alongside independent study, all supported by personal tutor guidance. Assessment comes in the form of exams, coursework such as projects and reports, and individual and group presentations, with feedback and direct academic support.

Liverpool John Moores University was founded in Liverpool, England, in 1823 and became a university in 1992. It offers graduate, undergraduate, and research programmes across its five faculties. These programmes have been accredited by professional organisations such as the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

Entry Requirements for Nigerian Students

Applicants must meet the following requirements to study MEng Civil and Environmental Engineering at Liverpool John Moores University:

Grade Requirements:

  • To apply, individuals must have a minimum of 96 UCAS points. These points must come from a combination of level 3 qualifications such as A-levels, BTECs, International Baccalaureate, and other equivalent qualifications.

English Proficiency:

  • Non-native English speakers may need to demonstrate proficiency in the language, typically through an IELTS score of at least 6.0. TOEFL or other equivalents are also allowed.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for the 2025/2026 session to study MEng Civil and Environmental Engineering at Liverpool John Moores University is £18,250.

However, this does not cover the placement fee (£3,830), accommodation, and other personal expenses. Also, international students must make a down payment of £5000 before they get a CAS.

Scholarships

Liverpool John Moores University offers financial aid to many undergraduate students, including scholarships and flexible payment plans. For instance, international students who self-fund are automatically given a £4,000 scholarship. As for payment plans, international students can pay the tuition fee in 2-3 instalments after the down payment of £5000.
