BSc Nursing Studies Mental Health
Course overview
The Glasgow Caledonian University BSc Nursing Studies (Mental Health) programme prepares students to become mental health nurses, promoting mental wellbeing and supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges. This course focuses on modern approaches to supporting and treating people, emphasising individual strengths and independence. Students undertake practical learning for half of the course through placements in various settings, including NHS community and hospital environments, as well as independent and voluntary sector services.
During these practical experiences, students engage in mental health nursing activities, such as assessment and providing care to a range of patients. The learning and assessment methods ensure students gain the necessary knowledge and skills, incorporating diverse teaching strategies like examinations, essays, presentations, and group work. Successful graduates are eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), ready to work in various professional environments.
