Course Overview

BSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics at Glasgow Caledonian University is a degree that teaches you how food and nutrition affect health. You will learn how good nutrition can help prevent and treat illness. You will also study the science of nutrition and build the skills you need to become a registered dietitian. This includes practical work, learning how to talk to and support people, and understanding the challenges they may face when trying to change their eating habits.

The course is approved by the British Dietetic Association and the Health and Care Professions Council. This means you can apply to become a registered dietitian after you graduate. About University

Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is a public university in the centre of Glasgow, a large city in Scotland. It was created in 1993 when two older schools (Glasgow Polytechnic and The Queen’s College) joined together.

GCU offers many courses that are approved by professional organisations. You can choose from subjects such as nursing, physiotherapy, health, business, engineering, computing, media, fashion, and social sciences. These courses are linked to real jobs. They will also help you learn the practical skills you need to succeed in your future career.

Entry Requirements for Nigerian Students

  • Students must be at least 17 years of age before commencement of the programme. 
  • Also, interviews are usually held, and they will take place on campus.
  • Students will be required to undergo an enhanced criminal disclosure procedure with Disclosure Scotland before they get placements.

Grade Requirements:

  • UCAS tariff of 102 points. This can be achieved through several qualifications such as A-Levels, International Baccalaureate, Access to Higher Education, etc. 

English Proficiency:

  • International students whose first language is not English should possess an IELTS score of 7.0 with at least 6.5 in each of the four components. Equivalent tests can also be used.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee to study BSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics at Glasgow Caledonian University is £15,200. Please note that the fee quoted is only for the 2025/26 academic year. Thus, fees for subsequent sessions may be increased.

Scholarships

GCU offers various scholarships to support and ease the financial burden of international students. The New to GCU Undergraduate Scholarship, for example, awards up to £2,500 off students’ tuition fees each year. 

The ICAS Bursary also awards bursaries of up to £2,500 for students studying Accountancy or Finance courses, whose household income is under £34,000 per year.
