BSc Sport and Exercise Science
Course overview
The BSc Sport and Exercise Science at Middlesex University is a four-year programme that equips students with the scientific knowledge of Sport and Exercise. This course covers everything about Sport and Exercise, including modules that explain how physical activity improves fitness and clears the mind. There is also a foundation year, where students familiarise themselves with the course content before entering the main degree.
In this degree, students learn to combine scientific knowledge and sports performance with laboratory work and other specialist units in biomechanics, psychology, biostatistics, and exercise physiology. They will also understand how sports like badminton, tennis, football, and exercise methods like yoga help improve thinking and increase lifespan. The psychology modules also introduce students to the ways sport and exercise take their toll on human behaviour. This course is suitable for students who want to improve their performance in competitive sports, both contact and non-contact. Graduates are also prepared to help athletes perform at their best levels in professional sports.
Learning is through practical sessions, field visits, lectures, tutorials, and seminars. Assessment methods include essays, phase tests, presentations, assignments, reports, examinations, and a final-year project.
