BEng Civil and Environmental Engineering

Coventry University

Course overview

The BEng Civil and Environmental Engineering at Coventry University is a three-year undergraduate course that teaches students how to design and build things like bridges, roads, buildings, and water systems while also protecting the environment.

This course mixes civil engineering (which focuses on structures and construction) with environmental engineering (which focuses on clean water, waste, pollution control, and sustainability) so students can learn how to create safe and strong structures that also reduce harm to the planet. Students can also choose to add a placement year between Year 2 and Year 3 to get practical work experience.

Throughout the course, students are encouraged to think about climate change, green building, and low-carbon construction. Students learn through lectures and small group sessions, lab experiments and design workshops, team projects, and individual assignments, while assessment is carried out through coursework, design reports, group presentations, and practical tasks.
