BSc Computing with Creative Design

Course Overview

The Cardiff Metropolitan University BSc Computing with Creative Design programme focuses on developing computing skills while emphasising creative and design elements within the discipline. Students learn the fundamentals of computer-based and software-driven systems, incorporating modern design thinking. 

The programme introduces Human-computer interaction principles, exploring user experience (UX) and interaction design, and covers various technologies and tools for creating new hardware and software solutions. This degree is accredited by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. It can be studied as a three-year full-time degree or a four-year option including a foundation year for those needing to strengthen skills. 

The curriculum includes compulsory modules and optional modules in the final year, with the possibility of a year-long industry placement in Years 2 or 3. Learning involves technical labs, individual and group projects, real-world case studies, and guest talks, with assessment through exams, practical assignments, reports, and presentations.

Entry Requirements for Nigerian Students

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement, and a relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. They can also choose to upload their CVs along with their applications to show their work experience.

Grade Requirements: 

  • Applicants generally need 104-112 UCAS Tariff points, including A-levels (with a minimum of three subjects at grades CCC), a BTEC National/Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma at DMM, a T Level Merit, or an International Baccalaureate Diploma with two H5 grades. 
  • Applicants from other countries can also submit qualifications that are equivalent to A-levels.

English Proficiency: 

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to demonstrate English language proficiency equivalent to Academic IELTS 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in all individual components. 
  • Applicants can also submit equivalent test scores from other recognised qualifications like PTE and TOEFL.

Cost of Study

International students pay £16,000 per year as tuition fees for the BSc Computing with Creative Design at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Scholarships

Cardiff Metropolitan University offers a range of scholarships specifically for international students pursuing undergraduate degrees.
