MEng Control and Instrumentation Engineering
Course overview
The MEng Control and Instrumentation Engineering at Bangor University gives a full four‑year path to learn how to design, control, and instrument real systems. This course combines electronics, control theory, sensor technology, instrumentation, and systems design. It aims to prepare graduates for roles in power generation, manufacturing, automation, and wider engineering fields that need accurate control and measurement systems. Students get training in both basic engineering fundamentals and specialised topics such as control systems, sensor and instrumentation design, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), data networks, and system automation.
The MEng Control and Instrumentation Engineering from Bangor University is a four-year programme and follows a progressive path from fundamentals to advanced topics in control and instrumentation. In the final year, advanced modules are offered, including advanced sensor systems, advanced control systems, and a team‑based major project. Students are taught using a mix of lecture classes, labs, workshop sessions, and design projects. Assessment combines lab reports, coursework, theoretical exams, project reports, and, in the final year, a large team project or a system design project. The final project tests whether each person can plan, design, test, and document a working system that meets design goals.
